The lighter material in the world, new opportunities?
Scientists have developed a new type of rigid structure, but scalable extremely light. Similar to the structure of the Eiffel Tower is composed 99.99% air .

” The project is initiated by the DARPA (agency of the Department of Defense) and the material was developed by the University of California located at Irvine, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and HRL Laboratories.
Its structure consists of tubes 100 nanometers thick nickel-phosphorus interconnected to each other in the lattice. This structure, however, that occupies 0.01% of the material.
Mainly composed of air, it can be compressed to 50% of its size and return to its original size after that.
It could be used to make electrodes of batteries but also has applications to absorb vibration as sound. ”
Not without reminding us of the work of Philippe Malouin.
Applications other than for the electrodes of batteries to imagine?
