Painting is an inexpensive material, easy to apply and great decorative possibilities. With paint you can renew the appearance and decor of a room without major reforms without spending much money. Options range from a smooth paint (one color per room or in combination of two or more colors in different walls) to the various techniques of decorative effects (patina, sponge, cloth, etc.)..

The paint provides a smooth clean finish to the decor if the color or the colors chosen are correct. On the market a huge amount of qualities and types of paint, besides an infinite variety of colors to choose. Therefore it is important to pause and review the keys to a good choice.

The two factors to consider when choosing the paint are the type and color.

Minimalism goes very well with modern architectural buildings, but can also apply to old buildings provided they are not rustic.

Minimalism allows most changes to the zen and Orientalism. The use of furniture or Oriental style is perfect for environments eclectic approach.

Minimalism uses monochromatic environments. A break in minimalism can be given by painting a wall in a raised tone than the rest of the setting, but does not allow changes so bold and bright colors or far from the neutral (browns, beiges, tans).

The high places, loft, with a second floor or mezzanine sight, combine well with the minimalist concept.

Note that minimalism goes very well with the ordained, providing aesthetic order that is based on the unnecessary clutter not disrupt its vision. Therefore it is said that minimalism is not intended to disorderly people.

The minimalism is characterized by extreme simplicity of its forms, pure lines, cleared spaces and neutral colors in a balanced and harmonious environment.

First of all open spaces are privileged, preferably high, and free. A functional harmonious environment outside the concept of excess, saturation and visual pollution. It also avoids the cacophony, repetition and any visual redundancy. It could be considered a “antibarroquismo” aesthetic. Everything should be smooth, calm and order, no clutter and baroque excesses or stridency, often oblivious to the world outside. Sobriety without ornamentation.

In short, the philosophy of minimalism seeks to build each space with the minimum possible number of elements, so as to eliminate or avoid anything that might be fitting.

In minimalism all elements must combine and form a unity, prioritizing all about the parties. The space itself is of great importance, never “overshadowed” by the decorative elements. In this context there is a clear priority to the clean lines and low, almost at ground level, with absolute monochromatic roofs, floors and walls, complemented by furniture.

Colors
One of the main features of minimalism is the use of pure color, monochrome surfaces or backgrounds, soft colors, predominantly white and ecru. It also incorporates the toasted or black with subtle touches of color to accentuate details and accessories. When we think of the target must know, not to mention, that white is a color with a wide range of tonal variations that can multiply the luminosity.

The contrast is provided by some of the ornamental details that in no case be abused. The detail of color, maybe a red or pistachio, may be given by a rug, a pillow, or a single object.

Materials
The materials are another key point of minimalism. The minimalist setting wood is used in both floors and furniture, and rustic materials: smooth cement, glass, steel wire, and stones venecita mainly unprocessed, minimally manipulated.

Textiles
The fabrics used in the minimalist decor should avoid the baroque aggressive, adding freshness and inviting relaxation. They should leave out the flowery patterned fabrics and opting for the austerity of the plain. Are preferred in ivory rustic fabrics, textures such as linen or canvas. Curtains, cushions and upholstery will have to conform to a unity and balance.

The curtains, where they exist, must be white, straight and simple lines, Roman or roller. Although you can easily do without them.

Furniture
The furniture itself take the concept of simplicity of minimalism and functionality, less is more. Austerity in the design and the amount of furniture, are basic to the minimalist decor. There are always fixtures. Often hidden or stored in furniture or shelving. Modern furniture and oriental go well with this type of decoration.

Walls
On the walls trying to avoid all ornaments that are more, but you can use a painting featured in the presence or importance. A picture of author is a good resource. Smooth walls colored or covered with stone, as the only element of decoration.

Minimalism emerged in the late 60′s in New York, but its origins are rooted in Europe, the first ideas of the German architect Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, one of the most important architects of this century.

Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe develops his ideas about the purity of the forms (precursor of minimalism) during his tenure in the direction of the School of Art and Design at the Bauhaus in Germany in the late 30′s. Shortly after, due to the process of the second world war, he emigrated to the United States, where he was known as an influential architect and designer, and became a U.S. citizen.

Entered the 60 participating New York art movement and geometric minimum in the visual arts. Although not the only one who spoke, his version of rationalism and functionalism then, have become models for other professionals of his century. His influence can be summarized in one sentence that he gave and has become the motto of the modern architecture of the first half of the twentieth century: “less is more.”

Throughout his career he fought to get a universal architecture and simple, it was honest in the use of materials and structures. His work is characterized by rigidly geometrical composition and the total absence of ornamentation, but his poetry lies in the subtle mastery of the proportions and exquisite elegance of the materials (sometimes used marble, onyx, travertine, chrome steel, bronze or wood), always finished off with great precision in the details.

Already in the 70′s, minimalism reaches maturity as a form of reaction to the ornate styles of the time (mainly pop art) and saturation within the aesthetic universe communications. This influenced not only in the decoration and architecture, but also in painting, fashion and music.
